When my perfume runs out at the end of the year I look at it as an opportunity to change my signature scent. I like to think that this minor change represents growth in my life, in my age, in my maturity, and in my mental state. I like to think that every year I become a better and more polished version of myself because I have that much more experience under my belt. Two years ago my signature perfume was Roses de Chloe ($95) because I liked the delicate and innocent scent it gave me. This past year I wore Miss Dior Eau de Parfum ($92) because it made me feel sophisticated and feminine. And this year I will be wearing Chanel N°5 Eau de Parfum ($132).

I chose Chanel N°5 because I was inspired by my trip to the Mademoiselle Privé Exhibition that I attended while in London. Although I bought it to reminisce, the reason I wear it and enjoy it is that it smells of sophistication and power. To me the best way to describe this perfume is with a quote from Coco Chanel, “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume, has no future.” I think this was her way of saying that wearing perfume gives women more confidence and therefore leads you to more success. I happen to think what she said was true because when I wear this I feel more confident, more important, and that my opinion matters. Now I don’t suddenly walk around with a sense of arrogance but I do speak out more and I don’t feel as self conscious, which I believe was Coco Chanel’s intention. This is a classic for a reason and is indescribably wonderful, so if you do want to know how it smells I suggest going in person because no description will ever do it justice.

Another product I picked up was on my radar for a long time, it is Dior’s Addict Lip Glow in the shade 001 Pink ($33). This has the texture and hydration of a lip balm while also giving you a subtle hint of color. This balm sets itself apart from the rest because the shade of pink is determined by the PH levels of your skin, therefore making it more personal because it’s a little different for everyone. I love using this when I want a more natural look because my lips stay hydrated throughout the day while still having a subtle hint on color. And of course because it is Dior, the packaging is excellent.
