Sephora recently announced that they are starting a subscription box program called Sephora Play! that will be available to all customers starting in early 2016. At the moment they are offering a beta version of the program and I was lucky enough to be invited in. If you are interested in becoming a beta member you can go to their website and sign up here but be prepared to wait awhile because there are limited spaces available.

Each box comes with six sample size products of various types including makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrances and only costs $10 a month. The box also comes with what is called a Play! Book that describes the products inside and gives you pro tips to help you get the most out of each product. There is also a little card inside the Play! Book that will give you an extra 50 beauty insider points when you make a purchase.

I received the first Sephora Play! box a few days ago and I have been using almost every product on a daily basis. This month’s box came with many products including Glamglow’s Super Cleanse ($39), a mud to foam cleanser that does a great job of detoxifying and decongesting the skin. It gives the skin a nice cooling sensation and if you are suffering from problem skin you can double this as a mask and leave it on for 10-15 min. I have purchased the full size in the past and I absolutely loved it so I’m excited to have more of this on hand. I also received Ole Henriksen’s Sheer Transformation Moisturizer ($40), this works for all skin types and leaves my oily skin feeling refreshed and never greasy. You can wear this during the day or at night because the texture works well under makeup and is moisturizing enough to use at night. Another product I received was Marc Jacob’s Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer 42 ($25), I personally don’t wear eyeliner so I gave this to a friend and she was really excited to try it out. Despite never using this I have heard excellent things about this eyeliner, that it lasts all day and works well when applied to the inner rim. Another product was Sephora’s Rouge Infusion Lip Stain in No. 19 Peony ($14), this is a moisturizing stain that wears comfortably on the lips and lasts for hours. I have been wearing this almost everyday because the shade peony is a great dark yet still nude shade that works well for my pale complexion. I also received Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer ($27), this is a great light weight primer that works with all hair types and makes your hair feel silky smooth and also has UV protection. The last product I received was Elizabeth and James’ Nirvana White Perfume ($80), a nice light perfume with the scent of delicate peony, chic muguet, and tender musk giving it a feminine sophisticated scent.

I love the array of products in this box and I think they did a great job at selecting products that work for people with a multitude of skin types and skin tones. Because of the excellent selection of products I think Sephora Play! will be a big competitor to other subscription box companies like Birchbox. If you haven’t already signed up I highly recommend you do, and maybe you too will slip on the list of beta members. I can attest that it is a great place to be.
