For the past few months I have been on a mission to find the best highlighter. I have been obsessed with dewy and highlight heavy makeup looks lately, and have been searching for the best product to maximize my skin’s glow. I find the additional highlight makes your skin look healthy, as though you eat all your fruits and veggies and you drink all the water in the world. I have found many powder and liquid highlighters that I love, and I have written about my favorites below.
Josie Maran’s Argan Illuminizer ($26) is a fairly intense liquid highlighter. It has a golden undertone and works well for the summer months or when you want more of a sun kissed glow. This product is infused with Argan oil (like all Josie Maran products), so even after you take it off your skin will have a subtle glow. However the pump on this container pumps out way too much product if you are like me and only want to use it on the high points of the face. This is a great product to look into but I would swatch it and get a sample before purchasing.
Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone ($41 for full size or $19 for travel size) is probably my favorite highlighter. It is a liquid highlighter with a pale gold undertone, this blends into the skin perfectly. It looks more natural than the Josie Maran highlighter, but can be layered for a more intense highlight making this a great product to try if you are interested in “strobing“. I use this on days when I want a more dewy glow that still looks natural.
Make Up For Ever’s Compact Shine On in shade 3 ($30) is a beautiful powder highlight. This also has a pale gold undertone and is fairly intense because it has some specks of glitter when applied. Despite the glitter this does blend well into the skin and isn’t too decipherable unless you get really close. Again this is another product I would swatch in the store before purchasing, and is best for more special occasions.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in shade Incandescent Light ($58) is a great powder highlight if you want a subtle natural look. This is probably the best highlighter of the bunch for everyday wear that doesn’t take more than 30 seconds to apply. Incandescent Light is an exclusive shade to this palette but the other shades in the palette are just as good making it worth the splurge.
